Overall I feel that I have been blessed with everything I have, with everything I am. I have put in effort and hard work but I have to be grateful each and every day. Of course there are things that I would want to change, small things, like being a little younger, caring a little less about meaningless things, etc…
I always wanted to be loved with the same intensity, the same passion that I loved someone. I thought I had that. I thought after a lifetime of disappointments and heartache that I had found what I was looking for. I was wrong, we are human after all. But I do have to say that I received one thing out of the whole experience, my son. For that I will forever be grateful. He doesn’t see my imperfections, rather he looks up to me and loves me, unconditionally. I will thrive and succeed and breathe and live just to see him happy.
By this point you might be asking yourself so what exactly does this have to do with changing one thing about yourself? Well I feel that within the last year or so I have changed one major thing about my life and that has trickled down into many aspects of my life. Discipline. I have tried to be inspired and motivated to change and better myself and meet my responsibilities but all in all without discipline, you won’t achieve much. Those are my 2 cents at least.
By becoming more disciplined I believe I have managed to grow as a person, as a writer, as a father. I am able to maintain a full time job at a respectable company, write books including poetry, short stories, children’s books, run my author site which you are currently visiting right now, run aceinkprinting.com as the owner/operator of a shirt printing business, AND be a father to an amazing little boy. Some people ask me how I find the time to balance all these things. Easy. Discipline. Well not that easy actually but I manage J.
Some things we want to change might be out of our control at the moment and that’s okay. Start with one small thing that you can change and grow from there. Take it one day at a time and you can accomplish anything.
As always, thank you for reading and if you have any questions/comments please feel free to comment or email.
