We recently had the chance to sit down and interview the owners of Famly Printing, a custom t-shirt shop based in Miami.
Small business is a dying breed nowadays but this company has been establishing a name for itself and they are here to stay!
The Actual Work
FP: We are Famly Printing. Family owned and operated custom t-shirt shop based out of Miami, Florida.
GA: I noticed your slogan, “There’s no I in Famly”, loving that. Could you further explain how you came up with this and the meaning behind it?
FP: Well, when we first started this project, we knew up front it will a team effort in order to get every job done the correct way. We work together and eat together. Looking at the term family made us realize that yes we are a family, but when we print, we take the i out. No I in FAMLY.
GA: What inspired you to get Famly Printing started?
FP: We had 1 small stationary machine in our home that we just decided to put to use. It was sitting there from our previous experiments No Solution.
GA: What has been your greatest professional success and biggest setback you have faced?
FP: Every day we face setbacks. Late shipments, not having the correct color in stock, late deposits. You name it, we go through it. Our biggest success thus far is FINALLY getting our very own warehouse to work out of. No more waking up at home but being at work at the same time!
GA: What does your day-to-day look like?
FP: Come in, answer emails, and get to work on pending orders!
GA: What are some of the challenges of being a young business owner?
FP: SHIETTTTT, there’s too much to say. One of the main things is getting our name out there. But also, KEEPING it out there. Gaining trust of the community in us and our vision.
Career / Job Information & Advice
GA: What is the best advice you’ve received throughout your career?
FP: “Stay hungry, humble, and consistent. Never die” – Ben
GA: What does success look like for you?
FP: Putting food in ALL of our mouths.
GA: What advice would you give someone that is facing failure? How would you handle it?
FP: Every day you are going to fail. That’s where success comes from. As long as you KEEP doing it, you WILL succeed. Regardless if it’s today or years from now. You WILL succeed.
Inspiration & Advice
GA: Where does your inspiration come from?
FP: Everyday life and pop culture. We can go outside and get inspired. So many colors. We can go on the internet and get SO MUCH info from the WORLD that it gives us the opportunity to create our own.
GA: Can you name a person who has had a tremendous impact on your life?
FP: Eric Saroza. I pee’d on him one time. He said it was ok. – Desi
GA: I don’t know the story behind this and at this point i’m too afraid to ask lol.
GA: What are you personally known for?
FP: Graphic design, sneakers, and of course printing!!
GA: What is one quote you live by?

Closing Remarks

FP: NEVER DIE. Of course, I mean that metaphorically. What that means is never stop. The most important key to success, above all, is consistency. Eventually, you’ll get it.
